School Board Meets After Accusations of Misuse of Money

The petition came from a parent within the district who claims to have "just cause" as to why two board members should be ousted.

Without hesitation, Fairfield County Board Members went into executive session to talk about removing Harold Heath and Henry Miller. "The Attorney General's office ruled back in April that if the board could show "just cause" they have the right to remove their own. I'm helping them to see "just cause" and everything is outlined in my petition," says Ernest Yarborough. The petition claims Heath and Miller used their power to misuse school money and appoint unqualified people. "These are serious allegations and all I want is for board members to consider what's going on," Yarborough adds. After the meeting one board member declined an interview while the other had no comment.

However Ricky Johnson responded to Yarborough's allegations. "I think he has some valid points and I think we'll probably look take another look at it," says Johnson. Dr. Samantha Ingram also gave her reaction...

"Sometimes when you focus on the side agendas you forgot to look at the positive changes taking place in Fairfield County," Ingram says. Ingram adds her attention is on maintaining high standards for students. "I would just ask if we could work to put children first that is our main focus; we're moving forward," Ingram said. But Yarborough claims that might be difficult without his concerns in the open. "At this point they're just allegations but if they materialize into fact, they've gotta go in my opinion," Yarborough added. No action was taken but one board member said he hopes the district can shift their focus back to students.
